Taking home top honors in multiple categories, Under Armour’s two-story flagship in Chicago was a big winner at A.R.E.’s annual Design Awards, which were presented Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Las Vegas.

The Chicago flagship store, designed by Big Red Rooster, a JLL company, won the coveted Store of the Year award, as judges deemed it the year’s very best new store design. They also received a Gold award with Best Specialty Store Over 25,000 square feet.

The flagship offers customers an immersive brand experience that begins in the two-level rotunda that boasts a 65-ft.-high ceiling. Dynamic videos and graphics envelop customers with a high-energy vibe, as a giant bust wearing an Under Armour shirt and a 30-ft. in diameter LED ring provide large-scale imagery as guests enter the Chicago store.

The 30,000-square foot store in the heart of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile had fierce competition. A record 75 awards were presented this year, honoring all aspects of retail store design, with winners representing eight countries. The A.R.E. Design Awards, the industry’s largest and most prestigious retail store design awards program, is in its 45th year.

Twenty-one Gold Awards and the Store of the Year were presented, along with the Visual Presentation of the Year, Fixture of the Year, Individual Element Awards, and the Merriman Above & Beyond Award.
